Discover Bariloche like never before

We did the Circuito Chico with the chairlift on a Saturday in February. The Campanario climb is the postcard everyone hopes for, so it pays off to go early to skip the queue. Quiet pace, well-timed stops. We were back at the hotel in time for lunch.

The full-day tour to Cerro Tronador is worth the drive. It is a few hours out to Ventisquero Negro, but the stops at Lake Mascardi and the Alerces waterfall make up for it. Bring a jacket even in summer, the temperature drops at the glacier.

The boat trip to Puerto Blest ran smoothly. The catamaran left on time from Puerto Panuelo. The walk to Cantaros waterfall is easy, about 30 minutes each way. If you go in autumn the forest turns yellow and red.

Our trip to Isla Victoria and Bosque de Arrayanes was well organised. The guide spoke English, which helped. The walking trail on the island has some uphill but nothing demanding. Bring water and sunscreen.

San Martin de los Andes via the Seven Lakes route is a long day. We left early and got back near sundown. Worth it for the scenery, but be aware it is many hours on the road. The stops at Villa La Angostura and Lago Espejo were the highlight.
